The answers to these types of questions start by calculating what are generally called "approach distances." An "approach distance" is how close a worker may approach an energized conductor without wearing any sort of extraordinary PPE. This new, revised bulletin explains the way(s) that NFPA 70E provides for calculating these important safety measurements.
